The Project “Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) for development assistance” is a strategic partnership with the Austrian Development Agency (ADA). During a first inception phase we want to analyze the feasibility of the foundation of a Risk Reduction Cluster in Austria.

Establishing a central contact point is very beneficial for all actors and it exists in many sectors. Nevertheless, there is no such alliance in the disaster risk reduction sector. A DRR Cluster can support cooperation between partners, which in turn simplifies the realization of numerous projects in the development assistance. Small and medium-size companies as well as charities without international experience jet may be able to become active in the development assistance by realizing projects in cooperation with experienced partners and the help of the DRR Cluster.

...we will share and promote Austrian experts knowledge and technologies to local partners in Southeast Europe (Balkan), the Southern Caucasus, Central-Asia, the Himalayan region, and Southeast Asia.

ASDRR´s main objectives, innovation, qualification, and internationalizing in the field of disaster risk reduction, take also effect in a DRR Cluster. Therefore we will share and promote Austrian experts knowledge and technologies to local partners in Southeast Europe (Balkan), the Southern Caucasus, Central-Asia, the Himalayan region, and Southeast Asia. Bringing all these international partners to one common table in order to support them with Austrian competence in public, private and scientific sectors as well as charitable ones contributes to a holistic risk management cycle in developing countries. The Cluster aims to establish a standardized competence center for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Thereby, a common organization, communication and information platform will be set up. Cluster participants can here share knowledge and experiences in the field of natural and disaster risk reduction here. To establish a holistic risk management with all its aspects participants of each sectors should work on a complete value chain. Hereby new synergies between authorities, NGOs, companies, or research institutes can develop. The Cluster will offer a complete schooling program (Curses, Workshops, Summer School) where prospective experts are trained in the field of DRR. Finally, the Cluster stands for disaster assistance and help during and after an event. By training local authorities how to deal with catastrophic events developing countries resilience can be improved and societies can recover faster after an event - build back better.
